Santa Barbara’s Historic El Presidio + Granada Theater | Vanessa + Joerg

Live music and laughter, lots of both. That’s what characterized Vanessa and Joerg’s wedding day. Joerg owns a record studio, JSM Records Music Production. He was playing music at his own reception party, as were many of their friends and family.

Vanessa and Joerg’s wedding ceremony was held at Santa Barbara’s Historic El Presidio Chapel. A grand party followed at another Santa Barbara landmark, the Granada Theater. Live, spontaneous music of this caliber was something rare to behold.

Montecito Country Club Wedding | Charlotte and Daniel

Charlotte and Daniel got married last summer at the Montecito Country Club. The day after their wedding they moved to Philadelphia to pursue their studies in med school, she in a doctoral program for child development, he to become pediatrician. So you can imagine there were a bunch of kids at the wedding, too, which I always think is great.

While Charlotte and the girls were getting ready at the Club, Daniel and the guys jumped in their vintage Chevy Impala and took the scenic ride through town, down Shoreline Drive and Cabrillo Blvd. Charlotte and Daniel had THE most impressive first dance I have ever seen. They nailed every move of their amazing Tango performance.

Thank you Charlotte and Daniel, it was a privilege and great fun to be part of your big day!

Surfing Engagement Session | Jenneke and Phillip

Jenneke and Phillip met in school at UC Santa Barbara and Phillip taught Jenneke how to surf. They’re both really good surfers and they thought it would be fun to incorporate the ocean in their engagement photos. We met for an early morning session down the coast near Little Rincon. I had such a good time with their shoot. This was my first time photographing an engagement session in the water. I’m excited to do more. Thank you, Jenneke and Phillip! You rock!

Wedding in the Sunken Gardens | Jessie and Paul

Jessie and Paul live in Dublin, Ireland, where Jessie is a filmmaker, visual artist, designer and all-around creative person. She’s also in a band, or two. Jessie and Paul’s friends and families arrived from near and far for their Santa Barbara Courthouse Wedding in the Sunken Gardens. Following the ceremony, a Mariachi Band tuned up and lead the way for guests to a lively reception at the Historic El Paseo Restaurant. Jessie’s wedding dress was super cool and cute. It even had pockets!

Hendry’s Beach Engagement Session | Charlotte and Daniel

Charlotte, Daniel, and I first met up last December for their engagement session on Stearn’s Wharf in the middle of an all-day-downpour. The rain seemed nice for a change, so I talked them into getting drenched with me for half an hour to get some unique shots. We did want to do a “dry session,” too, so here are some images from e. sess #2 at Arroyo Burro Beach aka Hendry’s Beach and the Douglas Family Preserve. I’ll be working on getting Charlotte and Daniel’s wedding at the Montecito Country Club up on the blog sometime soon! (including a vintage ’59 Chevy Impala and crazy-good tango!) Their wedding will also be featured in the Montecito Journal! Keep an eye out for it!

Rincon Beach Wedding | Michele and Nathan

Michele and Nathan’s wedding was an incredibly nice surprise. We were away in Austria and the summer seemed all planned out when along came Michele’s inquiry to my mailbox. Their Rincon ceremony and beach house reception was warm and relaxed just like their personalities. Down-to-earth and easygoing, Michele and Nathan made it a pleasure photographing their wedding and I had a wonderful time on the little hike we did together a week earlier for their engagement session. It was an honor to be there with you for your wedding day, Michele and Nathan. Thank you!

Michele and Nathan drove out from Oklahoma and rented a beach house for the week of their wedding. We met up a few days before their big day to get engagement shots. The coastal fog was particularly thick on the day we met, but the clouds burned off just in time for sunset on the mountains above Santa Barbara and some views of the coastline. Very nice! Pictures of Michele and Nathan’s wedding on the beach at Rincon Point will be up soon!

The Thomas Estate Wedding, Mount Diablo State Park | Jackie and Dave

Here are a few pictures from Dave and Jackie’s wedding in June in the rolling, golden hills of Mount Diablo State Park. They got married in a beautiful poolside ceremony at the Thomas Estate and the festivities took place right there overlooking hills of open oak woodland and golden grass. Afterward, everyone partied and danced into the night at the pool’s edge. It was a great honor to be there to capture your day, Jackie and Dave!

For their honeymoon, Jackie and Dave biked the passes of the Dolomites and the Passo di Stelvio! Very cool! I can’t wait to get out in the mountains with you both! Congratulations!
